There would be no point in you paying us if you could do what we do. Customer, shut the fuck up. Dunking your kid when they’re crying and scared isn’t you being a firm, badass parent. It’s you being a douche bag shit stain of a mom. Trust me, it is a HELL of a lot harder to be comforting and cheerful when a kid is screaming in your ear than it is to lose your temper and yell. Basically it was tiring and frustrating as fuck, but ultimately I’m ticking it down as a complete win of a day for me. We had training in the morning which was alright the best part was definitely making a stupid ass “movie” and a lunch break that consisted of tomato basil bisque and a sandwich on an onion roll.

After that I spent the ~2 hours between training and the camp-in I was working studying up and learning a little bit about a lovely thing called the International Space Station. One of my co-workers, Anthony, showed up and gave me some neat factoids. He’s a smart little shit, baby-faced and a million feet tall.

After that it was time to get our shit together and herd the boyscouts. They were an older bunch, and it’s typically difficult to keep them interested but they were fantastic and really curious and excited.

Our very last activity for the night was going to be conducted by myself and another newbie, Allison. She’s a preschool teacher, roughly 30 years old, which is why it’s so strange to me that she seems so nervous all the time. She’s also really nice and easy to talk to, but I think given the fact that she’s taught the young ones for so long, she gets flustered with the older kids + parents.

Anyhow, our two groups were watching a movie together and then we were going to give a tour of our gallery together. Allison was running long at her other activity, so I was trying to keep my scouts entertained and I all I could think of was ‘karaoke’. So I said ‘Alright, let’s keep it interesting, who wants to sing a song?’ and they were all like ‘>:]’

At least until I made the one smartass who said ‘Row row row your boat’ come up and sing with me. His fellows thought it was great until I made the next guy (who wanted ‘I’m a Little Teapot’) join us. And then the next (he wanted ‘Trouble’ by Taylor Swift). My voice was about as pleasant as nails on a chalkboard, but they weren’t bored.

The tour went fine, everything else went fine, and before we all left our Ed 1 for the night gave us all little certificates they made up. It was cute, and I got the ‘Capcom Award’ because I was constantly on my radio asking questions.

So yeah! Good night for me. I definitely love my new job. The pool can suck my nuts.

It finally decided to work today, so I opened it up intending to give Cas wings (at the request of an ask shortly after I originally drew it), and I ended up adding body hair, freckles and hand print instead.
